Nightlife in Berlin Kreuzberg
Kreuzberg, located south of Berlin-Mitte, is one of the best-known localities of Berlin, famous for nightlife, hedonism, anarchism, drugs, and other things that provide fun and headaches.
Actually there are two Kreuzbergs, the south-east (formerly named) "SO36", with the Oranienstrasse as its center, and the the south-west (formerly named) "SW61" with the Bergmannstrasse as its focal point.
Than, 2001, the already in itself divided Kreuzberg was compulsively united with (behind the iron curtain) Friedrichshain to the new district "Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg", only connected by a single bridge, the Oberbaumbrücke, acrossthe river Spree ,which once marked the end of the "free world". Now a new hip nightspot is growing there, just around U-Bahn Schlesiches Tor.
Kreuzberg is highly attractive to a younger crowd, although (or because) Kreuzberg is still one of the poorest hoods in the city.
