"Karneval der Kulturen" - "Carnaval of cultures"

Better than the love-parade.
Real! real people from all over the world living in Berlin present them selves in a party-parade.
O.K. if you ever joined e.g. the Carneval in Bahia/Brazil, you will find that Berlin people still have a lot to learn to celebrate a carneval.
But the nations living in Berlin give development aid for this protestant city. backdraw first : in germany you will hardly find an ice-cold beer when you realy need it. So on the carneval. That's something I do not understand, the homeland of Mercs is not able to supply its bars with efficient freezers, every (other) banana repulic has . For ice-cold beers you have to go to the tropics.

While the love-parade is over the top, a stampede for walk-ons, ataxic movers of despair, KARNEVAL DER KULTUREN is on the rise and will have a great future. (they deserve maybe a better titel, better marketing, because there is real spirit. As you see coreans, vietnamese, brasilians, turkish, marocans, even the love nation, parading thru Kreuzberg, its just fantastic.).
I think its unique. It is already bigger than the CHRISTOPHER STREET DAY in the end of june.
While the last 2 years the weather for the karneval was realy s&%$¤tty, this year (2003) was really hot. The prices for caipirinha varied between 3.50-4.50 EUR.
The Brazilain/ African were naturally dominating the procession, and the germanns still have to get uesd to the heat and rhythm.Fantastic action anyway, we had graaet encounters.
Sadly, at the end of the procession a tragic accident overshadowed the peacefull action: A steel construction collapsed in a tornado that followed the heat of the of the day, and 3 people were massive injured.
No other violance was reported so far, and that in an alcohol/cannabis soaked/dried meeting of 600.000 people.
