Arche Nova in Heiligenhafen
Tillmann Fritsch is a man with a large fan club. You might not know him, but every body should have somebody like Tillmann Fritsch as afriend.
There should be morte Tillmann's on this Planet.
Enough now.
We popped out to heiligenhafen, a tiny german harbour at the Baltic Sea.
In the trunk of the car we had a 5 liter bottle of genuine Ukrainian Vodka, ( there was no larger bottle), a large piece of
russion bacon, one large russian bread,marinated russian gherkins, and a hot,oily russian carrot salat which all goes perfectly with the vodka.
it,s quite a trip from Berlin up north to the shore of the Baltic Sea in Schleswig Holstein.
You go through Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is almost depopulated, but has a large variaty of rare wild animals which all taste very good, and a great open sky.
Anyway we arrived late and the warm-up party seemed already over.
there was a little fire burning, but what 5 liter of russian vodka can do to a groeup of about 10 people you might imagine.
The only thing I remember was that somebody saved half of the bottle otherwise we would have never made it for the inauguration of Tillmann's art-piece.
I awoke the next morning still drunk, but without any hangover symptoms.
The hotel was bad, but I had a place where I could put my head on a pillow. who needs more at the end.
I became a whitness of a rare traditional german event celebrated by true aborigines.
there was not only the art-piece to inaugurate, first there was to celebrate the 90'th birthday of Frau Fritsch, the mother of tillman, who already is a grandfather himself. As far as I could follow all the important speaches the Fritsch Family has it's roots in Heiligenhafen. The ancestors already traded herbs with China and built retirement home for old sailors and their widows, which still exists, and where Tillmann built in front of it his Arche Nova.
Beers for free for everybody ( learn this word, one of the most poular idioms in Germany = FREIBIER , spell frybeer).
They served a good Holsten, pefectly chilled in real glasses, and because Tillmann knows his compatriots, he took care, that everybody also got a rich beef soup or two.
A band was playing, the sun was shining, the mayor made an important speach, Tillmann made a funny speach, everybody was happy, the kids were entering the Arche Nova.
Before evrybody got drunk the early drinking event ( also avery important, mostly underestimated german word : FR†HSCHOPPEN spell Frooeehshoppen
which literally means "the early glass".
was finished, and we went walked through tiny Heilgenhafen to the harbour. On its way we passed quite a lozt small bars and restaurants, many people sitting in the streets with there "early glass" in their hands. Others wait in front of foodstalls for their hangover-food, what here is, of cause, all kinds of fish. as rollmops, bismarck-hering, Matjes (which is a fat "virgin" male! baby-herring).
We eneterd a boat which took us out for an hour to catch some salty air.
We had a joint in front of the Fehmarn-bridge, and entered a Windpark, which was particulary amazing to stand under this huge windmills, which produce clean electricity.
flat sea, flat land, nice harbour, tourists, lonelyness.
O.K the evening started with a very solid dinner, for what you need a lot of alcohol to digest it. And than: speaches. The Fritsch family is rather big, and it was also the day of Ms.Fritsch's 90'th birthday.
There is barely a something more enjoyable moment than to see an- (now we can say) old woman happy and proud, to see all her children, grand and grand-grand cildren around her. And she is on her feet and in very good health.
Prosit! More beer!
We were all singing the german birtday song which follows the same melody like the english version.
And than everybody went out for a cigarette. Than we ordered more beer, the music started, and everybody started to jump around till the sun came up.
